Gainesville, Fla., — The Institute for Public Relations (IPR) and the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) have appointed Dr. Hilary Fussell Sisco, APR, to serve as Editor-in-Chief and Dr. Julie O’Neil to serve as Senior Associate Editor of the Public Relations Journal. The Public Relations Journal is a free, web-based, open-access, peer-reviewed, indexed quarterly academic journal jointly published by IPR and PRSA, offering the latest public relations and communication-based research.
Dr. Fussell Sisco and Dr. O’Neil are two of the top academic leaders in the public relations field. Dr. Fussell Sisco is associate professor of strategic communication and chair of the strategic communication department at Quinnipiac University. Dr. O’Neil is a professor and director of the graduate program of strategic communication at Texas Christian University.

Both Dr. Fussell Sisco and Dr. O’Neil have editorial experience, have published research extensively, and are active in the profession. Dr. Fussell Sisco served as the Associate Editor and then Senior Associate Editor for the Journal of Public Relations Research. She has more than 50 peer-reviewed publications, primarily focused on public relations in the nonprofit sector, social media, and communication. Dr. Fussell Sisco is actively involved in PRSA, including serving as former co-chair of the PRSA National Research Committee, and is on the steering committee for the Commission on Public Relations Education. She is also a member of the Arthur W. Page Society.
Dr. O’Neil has published and presented more than 75 peer-reviewed journal articles, proceedings and conference papers on topics ranging from donor relationships, nonprofit communication, employee communication, standards and media source credibility. She is the former co-chair of PRSA’s National Research Committee, and serves on the advisory board of the IPR Measurement Commission.
The Public Relations Journal publishes original research articles, commentaries, research-in-briefs and case studies in a variety of formats including content and articles by academics or practitioners who examine public relations in depth and/or create, test or expand public relations theory. In June 2017, PRSA and IPR relaunched the journal, combining PRSA’s former Public Relations Journal and IPR’s Research Journal of the Institute for Public Relations. A special international issue of the PR Journal will be launched in September.
