The Institute for Public Relations, the only independent foundation in the field of public relations dedicated to research, measurement and education, has announced the election of its 2004 officers and trustees.

Elected to the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees for 2004 were new Co-Chair Peter D. Debreceny, vice president, corporate relations, Allstate Insurance Company; and returning Co-Chair W. Ward White, vice president, corporate relations, Northwestern Mutual. Also continuing on the Executive Committee are president and CEO John W. Felton, visiting professor, public relations, University of Florida; and Treasurer Margery Kraus, president and CEO, APCO Worldwide.

Retiring IPR Co-Chair Frank E. Ovaitt, Jr., managing director, Crossover International, will become an Honorary Trustee. He joins Honorary Trustees Don Bates, managing director, marketing and new media, Media Distribution Services; Alan H. Center, retired, APR; and Willard D. Nielsen, corporate vice president, public affairs, Johnson & Johnson.

New to the IPR Board in 2004 are Gary F. Grates, vice president, communications/North America, General Motors Corporation; and Maril MacDonald, CEO, Matha MacDonald LLC.

Mark Weiner, CEO, Delahaye Medialink Worldwide, was elected chair of IPR’s Commission on Measurement and Evaluation for 2004.
