The Institute for Public Relations, the only independent foundation in the field of public relations dedicated to research, measurement and education, has announced the election of its 2003 officers and trustees. The election took place at its annual meeting in New York City on January 15, 2003.

Elected to the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees for 2003 were Co-Chairs – Frank E. Ovaitt, Jr., managing director, Crossover International; and W. Ward White, vice president, communications, Northwestern Mutual; President and CEO John W. Felton, visiting professor, public relations, University of Florida; Peter D. Debreceny, vice president, corporate relations, Allstate Insurance Company; Treasurer – Margery Kraus, president & CEO, APCO Worldwide.

New Trustees include Andy Polansky, president, North America, Weber Shandwick Worldwide and Judith A. Muhlberg, vice president, communications, The Boeing Company.

Katie Delahaye Paine, president & CEO, K.D. Paine & Partners, will be continuing on the Board of Trustees in an ex-officio position. Paine was also elected chair of IPR’s Commission on Measurement and Evaluation for 2003. Chair-elect Mark Weiner, CEO of Delahaye Medialink Worldwide Communications Research will serve as Measurement Commission chair in 2004.

The Institute for Public Relations was founded in 1989 to be the leading source and provider of information about public relations research, measurement, evaluation and education. Since its inception in 1989 IPR has supported more than 250 separate research projects, many of which have led to breakthroughs in public relations practice and education.
