The Institute for Public Relations’ announcement to create a coalition to develop standards for PR measurement, evaluation and research, was featured in PRWeek US.  The periodical describes the ultimate goal of the coalition is to create a framework that can be applied across PR activities. In addition to IPR, this new standards platform is composed of Council of PR Firms, the Global Alliance for PR and Communication Management, the International Association for Measurement and Evaluation of Communication, and the Public Relations Society of America.

IPR’s Measurement Commission Chair, Dr. David Geddes, will lead the coalition. The steering committee also includes David Michaelson, principal of the David Michaelson & Company and chair of IPR Research Fellows; John Gilfeather, EVP of Koski Research and past chair of the Council of American Survey Research Organizations; and Philippe Sadron, director of research at RF Binder Partners.

“We know that clients, both external and internal, are asking for industry practitioners to develop, recommend and apply best practices, common definitions and measurement standards,” said Geddes.  “If we do not do this ourselves, be prepared for clients and their purchasing departments to do it for us.”
