International Professional Colloquium

Sept. 16-17, 2010 - Cliveden, Berkshire, UK
Registration by invitation only

The European Trustees of the Institute for Public Relations are pleased to present this by-invitation-only professional colloquium for the most senior public relations/public affairs leaders in Europe.

Our intent at this two-day colloquium is to:

  1. Assemble a peer group of senior-level public relations executives engaging on issues important to them and providing an opportunity for open and confidential discussion
  2. Assess current developments in the global economic, political and social environment and the impact on public relations and corporate communications.
  3. Provide data-driven insights that enable Chief Communications Officers to identify the public relations strategies needed in this challenging global business environment.
  4. Focus thinking on areas for new research to be undertaken by the Institute that would be most relevant for the profession.

The Trustees of the Institute for Public Relations believe this is an ideal time for 25 of the world's most senior Chief Communications Officers to investigate best practice in building trust for their organizations.

Today's business environment is characterized by uncertainty. Global financial markets remain unpredictable. Sovereign debt burdens likely will keep GDP growth low in mature markets for years to come. Confidence in politicians and multi-national organizations has been severely eroded, and the world continues to face threats from terrorism, war and natural disasters. At the same time, the power of communications is shifting from institutions to communities of individuals. Consumers and other stakeholders are connecting with each other on shared values and viewpoints and taking independent action when upset by corporate behaviour.

In this environment, the need for effective corporate communications and the opportunity for public relations have never been greater! Our companies and organizations demand and deserve accountability.

All discussions at this peer-group meeting are intended to be as discreet and confidential as they are probing and challenging. In addition to discussions led by members of the group, participants will be joined by a leading Chief Executive who has put trust at the center of corporate strategy, by a leading global pollster who will share real-time data on corporate trust and reputation and by the editor of one of the world's pre-eminent business newspapers.
