From Sustainability to Durability: Implications for Communications and Public Relations Research
November 26-27, 2008
University of Warwick, UK
The European Trustees of the Institute for Public Relations developed this by-invitation-only professional colloquium for the most senior public relations/public affairs leaders in Europe to:
- Develop a high-quality community of top public relations people focusing on issues important to them and provide an opportunity for open and confidential discussion.
- Assess the impact of current developments in the global financial and economic environment on the public relations profession.
- Focus thinking on areas of new public relations research to be undertaken by the Institute that would be most relevant for the profession internationally.
This inaugural colloquium explored a variety of issues normally associated with sustainability and CSR while integrating these into a larger context – the ability of the corporation to adapt and thrive over a long period of time, particularly given the challenges of the current economic climate.
