julie-hansenGAINESVILLE, Fla., July 27, 2015 – Julie Hansen, President and COO of Business Insider, will examine how research and data shape the future of online media at the Institute for Public Relations’ (IPR) 54th Distinguished Lecture. Hansen will deliver her speech, “The Modern Newsroom: How Research and Data Insights Have Shaped the Rise of Business Insider,” on Tuesday, November 17, at the historic Yale Club in New York City.

Business Insider is the fastest growing and largest business news site on the web, surpassing Forbes.com, WSJI Network, Bloomberg Group and CNN Money.  Hansen joined Business Insider in 2008 as its COO and publisher, and was named president in 2011. She led the organization through seven years of tremendous growth from its pre-revenue stage to a thriving commercial success. In addition to overseeing the revenue teams, she manages all aspects of the company’s operations outside of editorial, including finance, technology, marketing, legal, HR and the events division.

Prior to Business Insider, Hansen was hired by CBS to launch the NCAA.com website, a major overhaul of the league’s consumer property. She previously worked at Condé Nast, where she led the team that built and maintained 15 magazine-branded websites ranging from The New Yorker to Golf Digest.

At the Distinguished Lecture & Awards Dinner, Mike Fernandez, Corporate Vice President of Corporate Affairs at Cargill, will accept IPR’s highest honor, the Alexander Hamilton Medal, given for lifetime achievement in public relations. Dr. Anne Gregory will receive the 2014 Pathfinder Award, given by IPR in recognition of an original program of scholarly research that has made a significant contribution to the body of knowledge and practice of public relations.

Tickets for the Distinguished Lecture & Awards Dinner, which sells out every year, are available for individual purchase at $500. Tables of 10 can be purchased for $5,000 and premium tables of 10 are available for purchase at $10,000.
