feltonGAINESVILLE, FL  – The 2013 Jack Felton Golden Ruler Award is now open for entry.  The award recognizes superb examples of public relations research, measurement and evaluation.

Sponsored by the Institute for Public Relations Measurement Commission, the Jack Felton Golden Ruler Award seeks to recognize research excellence in the field of public relations practice and to contribute to the body of knowledge of the profession.

“The uniqueness of the Jack Felton Golden Ruler Award is reflected by the quality and diversity of its judging panel, which includes many of the most prominent names in PR research from across academia, corporate and agency research departments and PR research firms,” stated Mark Weiner, CEO of PRIME Research, who, as the 2012 Award winner, directs this year’s program.  He added, “Following Jack Felton’s death earlier this year, the 2013 award holds added significance as a memorial tribute to a friend, mentor and champion for our profession.”

Corporations, public relations agencies, and institutions are all encouraged to apply. In addition to the Golden Ruler, judges may also award Silver and Merit level awards.

The winning research program will be announced at the annual Institute for Public Relations research lecture in November, an event attended by hundreds of public relations’ most influential leaders, and published as an Institute case study.  The recipient will also be invited to present their work to the IPR Measurement Commission.  Submissions for this annual competition will now be accepted through August 23, 2013.

The award is named after Jack Felton, former IPR president and CEO, who was instrumental in creating the Measurement Commission.  The Commission seeks to establish, elevate and reinforce standards and methods for public relations research and measurement, and to issue authoritative best-practices white papers.
